Lose 7lbs in a month challenge – Broke girl’s guide

  • Posted on May 16, 2012 at 9:34 pm

As the hope of a British summer is ahead of us i.e. two days of sunshine I want to make sure that on those days I am sunshine ready so in that vain I have decided to start a challenge to of course tone up and get in shape. Challenge ends pretty much June 13th

my height is 5ft 6

starting weight: 10st 7lbs (147lbs)    Target: 10st (140lbs)

waist currently: 28 inches                  Target: 26 and half inches

Thighs currently: 25 inch each leg    Target: 23-24 inches

My weapons of choice:

1. Running – Plan to run 3 days a week weather permitting. At the moment I can comfortably complete a 5k each time (yay for me) so will be pushing myself to go that extra 1k on at least 2 of those days

2. Jillian – recently got the Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred via play.com for a fiver. quite fitting really since my own challenge is a month long. I will be doing this on the days that I do not run. Each session is only 20 mins long but it really pushes me and I can already see some progress.

3. Sizla waist trimmer - I have no idea what the heck this actually does apart from make my stomach a bit more sweaty but if it works hey not going to complain. its made on neoprene so is easy to clean

Feel free to join me and we can look fab for summer together!

Karolina Kurkova front

I feel I have been missing from blogsphere for a little while now, what better to bring me out than the BIGGEST fashion night out of the year the Met Costume Institute Gala I feel like all my favourite fashionistas have been in hiding in the last few weeks in the lead up to it, no doubt, tightening, toning buffing away to be camera ready. some highlights and disappointments below. For who took who to the ball check here Best dressed For me Hands down was Karolina Kurkova in a Rachel Zoe design. This is what the costume gala is…

OOTD| Casual and Destroyed

Just like many of us one of my favourite looks tends to be a simple white t-shirt and jean so today is no different. The shirt is ASOS and its got that trampy distressed look but I think it still manages to be quite clean cut in my opinion

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend even if the weather in London was abysmal

Added a scarf to add some dimension and playfulness

Jacket: H&M

Earrings and T-shirt: ASOS

Jeans: 7 for all mankind

The Mullet dress – Easter edition

  • Posted on April 22, 2012 at 10:16 pm

Who ever thought a mullet was a good idea…i mean seriously what was the saying party at the back and business at the front, tres ridic, anywhoo wore this outfit to a christening/Birthday party a few weeks back when it was actually looking alright outside, didn’t even wear a coat which I did regret in the end since let’s face it this is London after all

The dress was an absolute bargain that I got last year from ASOS in the sale so felt a bit smug in my £20 look. Is it party in the front and business at the back? you decide

I hate public transport and I hate work even more!!! One of these days I swear I am gona flip like Michael Douglas in falling down

Clothes always make everything better though and what better than accents of yellow to bring some much needed sunshine into the dreary tuesday morning

Ahh well at least is a short week. One less day till the weekend!

Actually managed to muster a smile at the end. hope everyone has a great week ahead!Top: New York and Co

Hair update – How I care for my twists

  • Posted on April 8, 2012 at 3:57 pm

I filmed this about 6 weeks ago but the laziness has been 3 much so did not get it up until now. mucho sorry-os!

All the information that you need is here:

I will have to say did not mention on the vid, I learnt to wash my hair via the growafrohairlong.com website. its really informative and whenever i have braids or twists I follow the braid regimen which really works for me

I used 3 packs kanekalon hair (brand was xpressions). before I had them put in I actually soaked them in diluted apple cider vinegar and then rinsed and followed with diluted conditioner and let it dry. This apparently is meant to remove the remnants of the harsh chemicals used when making the fibres and alleviate itchiness

Anywhoo I wash once to twice a fortnight and “condition” daily or every other day. Nothing really more complicated than that.

It cost £50 to put in and has been fun so far

Products Used

Clarifying Shampoo: Faith In Nature Tea Tee Deep Clean shampoo

Moisturising shampoo:  Aloe Vera Jojoba Shampoo

Braid sheen: Africa’s Best Braidsheen spray with conditioner

Leave-in treatment: Infusium 23 pro leave-in treatment

Hair Oil: wild groth hair oil

Was in a bit of a wild thang mood so decided to colour/print clash and team it with my faded out old leather jacket

The weather in london is looking mighty fine nowadays so I’m just in the mood to dress up and go out to play :-)

I was clearly feeling myself so apologies for the picture vomit
